PH 4½ - 3½ floor lamp (replica)

  • Reproduction of Poul Henningsen's PH 4½ - 3½ floor lamp

A multi-talented man – an author and critic as well as an architect and designer – the name of Poul Henningsen (1894-1967) has become synonymous with lamps whose opal glass shades are layered like petals and emit a warm, diffused light.

In 1925, he designed the ground-breaking PH lamp, comprising three concentric shades that combine to eliminate glare by producing only reflected light, which decreases in intensity as it moves away from its source.

Its mathematical-sounding name refers to the different widths of shades available – see the narrower shades of the PH 3½-2½ floor lamp. The lamp’s chrome stem and base are available in an aluminium, black or gold finish. There’s also a 153cm-tall PH 4½-3½ floor lamp, plus matching pendant, wall and table lamps.
