Replica of Achille & Pier Giacomo Castiglioni's Arco Floor lamp
Inspired by a street lamp, Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni's 1962 Arco floor lamp provides directional light where and when it's needed - bringing the light to the table, rather than the table to the light, as would happen when the only source of overhead lighting came from the centre of the ceiling.
Its dramatically arched stainless steel stem extends to increase the height and reach of the lamp, while the shade pivots to allow the angle of the light to be adjusted. A heavy marble base ensures there's no danger of the lamp toppling.
The Castiglionis' thoughtful finishing touch: a hole in the base, designed so that a broom handle can be inserted to lighten the load when moving it.
