J39 oak (replica)
- Reproduction of Børge Mogensens J39 Chair
Characterised by their simple lines, Børge Mogensen’s designs show the influence of his mentor, Kaare Klint, whose watchwords were simplicity and functionality. The J39 chair dates from the 1940s when he was development head of furniture at a Danish co-operative committed to providing quality, affordable design for all – yet its almost rustic appearance references earlier times.
This unassuming chair slips effortlessly into almost every kitchen, its simple woven seat complementing traditional kitchens and providing a textural foil to glossy, contemporary ones.

"Lovely. "
What a shame you didn't tell me when I bought the chairs you would knock the price down. Some very aged friends of ours were most impressed at the comfort of the chairs, especially the support of the back rest. The low proflle of the chairs also makes our dining room look large. I was also most impressed with the integrity of you company in sorting out a small administrative problem. Every bit as good as John Lewis.
