The current law

In the UK, design patents of industrially processed products such as furniture are valid only for 25 years. After that period, reproductions and replicas of iconic designs can be made and sold freely under UK law. This is the basis for our business and it allows you to buy furniture designed by Arne Jacobsen, Charles Eames and other famous designers at affordable prices. We, of course, would like to keep it that way.

Proposed changes to the copyright law

The UK Government recently proposed extending the period of copyright protection, however. This is an effort to conform to EU regulations, which protect all designs for 70 years after the death of the designer. It is important to note that the proposal has yet to be approved by Parliament. If, and only if, the law change is eventually effectuated, a long transitional period will ensure that you can still legally buy your design classics at Voga.com for quite some time.
