This Hans J Wegner armchair is truly a sleeper: designed in 1960, it wasn’t put into production until 2006 – shortly before the designer’s death – and promptly won the Innovation Award at that year’s IMM Cologne Fair.
The secret of its success lies in the cleverly constructed back section and headrest, which quietly ensure that the back, neck and head are correctly aligned to avoid any discomfort, whatever position the sitter adopts.
It’s available in aniline leather and eight shades of a cashmere/wool blend – including vibrant Turkish Blue – and there’s a matching stool. Complete the picture with Arne Jacobsen’s AJ standard lamp.
