  • Cool, understated colour scheme

Handmade to the precise specifications of the legendary Irish designer's original 1920s design, the VOGA.com version of the Eileen Gray Bonaparte Rug is the ideal way to finish any stylish lounge or classy mid-century bedroom. At just over two square metres in size, it fits effortlessly into almost every room in the house, adding a sprinkle of understated elegance wherever it sits. This is truly some of Eileen Gray's finest work.

The story behind the Eileen Gray Bonaparte Rug

Still as fresh, minimalist and classy today as it was when it was first released nearly 100 years ago, the Bonaparte Rug is one of those accessories that demands to be put centre-stage. Deisgned in 1920 and named after the Rue Bonaparte in Paris, where Gray lived for many decades, it is very much a love letter to the Art Deco movement that was sweeping the city at the time. But despite its 100th birthday fast-approaching, it shows no signs of aging, and remains a firm favourite among design lovers to this day.

About the Designer

Eileen Gray

1878 (Ireland) -1976 (France)

Irish born, Kathleen Eileen Moray Gray was a furniture designer, architect and pioneer of the modern movement. Considering the era she lived in, this was a quite an accomplishment for a woman in a very male dominated industry. Gray was a great admirer of Charles Le Corbusier and his influences can be seen in her self-built French summerhouse, which was also named E1027.
