1910-1961
Finnish-American designer and architect Eero Saarinen is recognised for his monumental design of the TWA terminal at J.F Kennedy Airport in New York. Some of his contributions to furniture include the Womb chair and the Pedestal Group – a unique collection of chairs and tables made solely from plastic and feature one central leg that flattens in a disc on the floor. Although his career came to an abrupt and unexpected end when he died just 51 years old in 1961, Saarinen has gone down in history as one of the most prolific and unconventional all-round designers of the 20th century.
Eero Saarinen’s vision: To design versatile and appealing furniture that even people of future generations will want to use.
